The Haven

Fourteen months, daily. The inside dome has polished up slightly from contact while the satin outside is as it was, and nothing has caught on a glove. It came boxed with a gauge and a cloth.

I usually need an 11 and ordered a 10.5 by mistake. The moment was it going over the knuckle anyway, because the inside curve gives back a fraction of a size. It sits close at the base, satin outside and domed inside.

Ordered by my wife after I had complained about two other bands, and it's been the last of that conversation. The inside is domed rather than flat, which is not visible on the hand and is the entire reason it works.

From the morning of our June wedding through to the end of the night I never once turned it round. The domed inside is the reason. It is polished where the outside is satin, and the two meet without a rim.

Wore it at our March wedding in a size 10, ordered after a jeweller measured me warm rather than cold. It cleared the knuckle at the ceremony and again at the end of a long day, which was the whole reason I chose a domed inside.

I had returned two bands before this because both sat wrong by evening. Size 12, and the moment came at about eight at night on day one when I realised I had not thought about it. Nine months of daily wear since and that has held.

I held this and my old band up to a window and looked down the middle of each. The old one was a flat tube; this has a visible curve on the inside that reduces the contact area to a band about half the width. That is the whole design.

I ordered a 10 expecting to size up, because I usually need to. It cleared the knuckle without effort and settled at the base, and I have not taken it off since.

The first thing I did on opening it was put a finger through and feel the inside, which is smooth and curved with no edge at all where it meets the outside. That is unusual enough to be the thing I remember about the box.

My husband replaced the flat-inside band I had worn for four years, which left a groove by evening. This one is a size 7 and the inside is domed, so the pressure spreads. Eleven months of daily wear and there is no mark on my finger at all.

Size 11, close at the base and over the knuckle without a fight, which is not something I could say about the last two. The satin outside has held up. If I am being fussy, satin does go slightly shiny at the contact point after a year.

Out of the box it went on cool and slid without catching, which I put down to the inside being polished rather than satin like the outside. That contrast is not visible once it is on.
